Autoimmune Diseases Research Survey
The University of Cambridge, England, is conducting a research project on the impact of autoimmune diseases on health and quality of life, with a special emphasis on autoimmune diseases such as thyroid conditions.
Currently, there is a significant lack of data on autoimmune diseases, particularly in areas related to patient experiences and hormonal influences (especially about managing menopause with thyroid conditions). Also, data from Canada is not enough. Addressing these gaps is crucial for advancing understanding and improving care for this community.
We are conducting two IRB-approved surveys to gather insights:
Patient Survey:
- Designed for autoimmune disease patients, especially those with thyroid conditions.
- Explores symptoms, healthcare relationships, and hormonal impacts.
- Takes ~30 minutes to complete (participants can pause or stop anytime).
- Participants can enter a prize draw with two prizes of £200 each.

Clinician Survey:
- Focuses on clinicians’ perspectives on hormonal influences, patient relationships, and disease triggers.
- Takes ~15 minutes to complete.
- Participants can enter a prize draw with two prizes of £200 each.

This research is led by Dr. Melanie Sloan, a Cambridge academic and patient advocate, with a multidisciplinary team of experts. Including data from the thyroid community is critical to the success and inclusiveness of this research.
