Initiation: |
Patients can be referred from primary care physicians, or specialists such as head & neck surgeons, otolaryngologists (ENTs), endocrinologists, and nuclear medicine physicians. If the patient has not had a complete assessment (e.g., ultrasound, biopsies), we will organize the appropriate investigations and/or referrals, as necessary. Treatment is available for benign or autonomously functioning thyroid nodules. |
Assessment: |
Patient’s imaging and biopsy results will be reviewed by our team. If a previous specialist assessment has not been performed, an initial consultation with a subspecialty-trained head and neck surgeon will be arranged. After initial consultation, imaging, and appropriate biopsies have been performed, a consultation with our expert in radiofrequency ablation will be arranged. Dr. Dennis Parhar is a board-certified subspecialist in Vascular & Interventional Radiologist working at Vancouver General Hospital and the University of British Columbia Hospital. He trains residents and fellows in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology through the University of British Columbia. His practice encompasses the gamut of Interventional Radiology including image-guided minimally invasive treatment of benign and malignant masses in the thyroid, lung, liver, and kidneys. |
