December is Hyperthyroidism Month

There are many types of Thyroid Disease. To bring attention to the different disorders, we are featuring a different Thyroid topic each month. For the month of December we are focusing on Hyperthyroidism (Thyrotoxicosis).

 

Hyperthyroidism (Thyrotoxicosis)

Hyperthyroidism symptoms:

  • rapid forceful heartbeat
  • tremor
  • muscular weakness
  • weight loss in spite of increased appetite
  • restlessness, anxiety and sleeplessness
  • profuse sweating and heat intolerance
  • diarrhea
  • eye changes
  • goitre (increased size of the thyroid)
